In concert with the San Francisco Civic Symphony at Nourse Theater this Sunday 4/3

This Sunday, April 3rd  I will be collaborating with the San Francisco Civic Symphony, conducted by David Möschler at the Nourse Theater in SF. I will be performing my song SB1070, arranged for orchestra by Yvette Holzwarth and Patrick Wolff. SB1070 is on my album Eterno Retorno and this a song I wrote in response to the anti-immigration bill passed in Arizona in 2010. The orchestral arrangement is absolutely beautiful, it gives me goosebumps!

Here’s the rest of the program:

George Gershwin – Porgy and Bess selections arr. Robert Russell Bennett
Aaron Copland – An Outdoor Overture
Diana Gameros – SB 1070 arr. Yvette Holzwarth and Patrick Wolff
INTERMISSION
Jean Sibelius – Symphony No. 3

p.s. A big thank you to those of you who came out to the Red Poppy last Saturday. It was truly special to see so many of you line up around the building to enter and then gather in the warm and cozy Red Poppy Art House. Playing for a full house, or I should say, playing for a full HOME is a beautiful gift for us performers who are ready to give you our love in the form of music. Being in this space, surrounded by your attentive and loving energy meant the world to me.

Yahete.
